INTRODUCING: Codex Leicester

Codex Leicester are a four piece band who formed 2010. They comprise Dave Fellows (Guitar) Kris Tearse (Drums/Vocals) Tiernan Welch (Bass) and Scott West (Guitar/Vocals).

Hailing from Leicester and  collectively made up from previous bands Death of London, Pacific Ocean Fire, Motion Picture Soundtrack and Public Relations Exercise.

Codex provide you with enough skewed vocals and unsettling riffs to introduce  you to the notion that something is about to sonically erupt. Just when you think ‘you’ve got the measure on Codex’ head’ they defy expectation by 360 degrees with their unique blend of tightly wound, art-metal twisted post-hardcore.

These guys are fantastic, look out for more updates on them and a release coming very soon.

In the meantime, enjoy this video!

NEWS!

Hey all

Hope this finds you well. We have 2 new releases and 3 tours to tell you about but to begin some very sad news. So here goes:

The End of Cats and Cats and Cats

It is with great sadness that we announce that after 7 years, several EP’s, 7”s and two great albums Cats and Cats and Cats have decided to call it a day. They are to play a final UK show this Friday 10th February at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, London before heading off to Europe for a 14 date tour starting the following day. Full tour dates can be found here

To commemorate and commiserate we are doing a very limited edition release to accompany them  on their final dates. Entitled ‘Catsalogue’ this 11 track CD features the band’s favourite  Cats’  tracks and comes with a download code for an additional album’s worth of audio and video rarities charting the 27 lives of Cats and Cats and Cats. And it is all wrapped up in a beautiful photo and record sleeve montage of the last 7 years. The band will have the record at their final shows but if you cant make it to see them live then you can order it from the Function Store

Whilst we will be posting plenty of far more gushing blogs over the next few weeks about how much we will will miss them, suffice to say, Cats are beautiful creatures, great companions and whaddayaknow, they made amazing music too. Night, Night and Night x

Shield Your Eyes

On to happier climes, having sold out the first pressing of their new vinyl-Volume 4 within 6 weeks of it’s release at the back end of 2011, Shield Your Eyes have just begun their second European trip in the last 3 months, this time taking in France and Spain. Full details of their upcoming shows can be found here

And for those who haven’t already picked one up the album is now back in stock and available from the label store here, from the band at their shows or from good independent stores.

Maybeshewill New 7” and European Tours

We are delighted to announce that the new Maybeshewill 7” is now available to pre-order from the Function store here

The limited edition Red Paper Lanterns 7” features the title track and the previously unreleased ‘Rain’ and for those pre-ordering the record there is a bonus 4 track download remix EP . Pre-orders will ship at the end of the month before the record is released in stores on 12th March UK and 9th March Europe.

This is the third in a series of 7’s taken from last year’s ‘I was here for a moment, then I was gone’ album and is released to accompany the band’s Central and Eastern European tours running from the 9th March through 12th May. Full tour details can be found here

and be sure to check the Maybeshewill site for a further very exciting tour announcement on 10th February

Thanks
